Experience:

Las Lomas

At the northern gateway to Los Angeles, Las Lomas will be a mixed-used community of approximately 5500 homes, situated in 300 acres of open space. Located on a previously disturbed site once used by a utility company, the development lies at a critical transit bottleneck between two major highways. Given both the difficulties and opportunities inherent to the site, Terrapin was asked by master planners A.C. Martin Partners to lead an exploration of ways to restore degraded ecosystems while creating a forward-looking and pedestrian-centered live/work environment. The two-day charrette focused largely on key infrastructure issues, including transportation, energy, and water management, to achieve a high standard of energy independence and sustainable development. As a product of the Terrapin charrette, A.C. Martin Partners crafted a detailed set of Sustainability Guidelines, to be delivered to the project’s master development team and eventually to developers of individual site parcels. Detailed Terrapin Case Studies are available in the Workroom, our private extranet full of detailed information and resources to help you make an informed decision.
